Hejnas Have Good Showing at Fall Jamboree
Hejna Brothers Racing hit the Deer Creek Speedway this past weekend for the USMTS Fall Jamboree. With over 80 top notch modified drivers checked in each night, it was a solid showing.
Friday night, Mike Hejna made the A-Main, and he was a threat early. Mechanical troubles however forced an early out for Mike.
On Saturday night, it was the big dance - the $6,000 to win thirty-two car field. Both Al and Mike raced their way in to the main event through their heat races. Mike redraw 2nd. Mike led early and was in the top five all night. Mike finished 5th. Al redrew 12th and fought through heavy traffic most of the race before finishing 8th.
On Sunday night, it was the make-up Thursday program. Once again, the two qualified for the A-Main through their heat races. Al started 12th and worked forward to a 2nd place finish. Mike started 9th, and he was caught in traffic through most of the feature for a 9th palce finish.

Al Hejna Wins Race of Champions, Hard Crash in Boone
Al Hejna traveled to the IMCA Super Nationals this past week in Boone, IA. Al Hejna tried to qualify for the 40-lap IMCA Super Nationals Saturday night A-Main as well as the Ron Efkamp Memorial Race of Champions.
Wednesday night, Al took a top four finish in one of the two A-Mains that night. That third place finish was good enough to make the big dance on Saturday night. His qualifying efforts continued on Thursday night as the Race of Champions' heats rolled out onto the Boone Speedway. A win in his heat race meant he would be running in two championship races on Saturday night.
The Efkamp Memorial Race of Champions was a heated battle, but Al Hejna proved he could handle the heat as he would win the event.
The 33-car field IMCA Super Nationals 40-lap A-Main event was a fast affair. Al Hejna let the field shake out at the beginning. He found something, and he started to move forward - and fast. Trouble developed as Al and another car looked to take on the same piece of track coming off of turn two. Al was forced up into the wall off of two and his car's right front of the car made hard impact.
The impacted lifted the rear of the car off of the ground. The momentium carried the Skyrocket Chassis's rear end around. Now facing oncoming traffic, Al was left to watch the field fly his way. Jay Noteboom, Scott Baker, and Jerry Hoffman had no where to go. Three hard impacts later, The Rockin' Rookies Sports Bar number "7" had been moved halfway down the back stretch. Despite a limp, he was able to walk away (as well as the other three involved). The damage to the car was intense, but it was comforting to know that the cage protecting the driver did its job.

The fifth event of 'The Hunt' for the O'Reilly USMTS National Championship took place on Labor Day at the Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, Minn. Al Hejna won his heat race, and he finished 8th in the A-Main.
Mike Hjena sits 6th place in the USMTS 'The Hunt' Points battle. Al Hejna sits 9th in the championship oints battle.
