Week Recap
Last week Al Hejna started out Sunday with a brand new Harris Auto Racing chassis
at Dodge County Speedway (Kasson, MN). Al won his heat and finished third in the A-Main.
Tuesday night was at Eagle Raceway (Eagle, NE). Al started 3rd in the feature and fell back to 6th. Al made a comeback to run 2nd for a few laps and ended up 3rd.
It was back to Dodge County SPeedway on Wednesday night. Al started 10th, and he moved his way up to 2nd and ran there for most of the race behind Brad Waits. He raced side by side with Tommy Meyer for second only to have the bottom of the race track go away with a few laps from the end of the race, and lost about 4 spots in the last couple of laps.
Thursday night was at Upper Iowa Speedway (Decorah, IA) Al we won the heat and redrew 7th for the A-Main. He moved his way up to 5th by the first restart and got to 3rd behind Kelly Shryock and Jason Hughes. Al passed Hughes in a couple of laps. Then it was side by side with Kelly for a few laps. He finally got away and led the rest of the race. Five of the best Skyrocket Chassis in the country started ahead of him, and he got them all.
Friday was at 'The Triangle' in Fountain City, MN. Al won his heat and redrew his
usual 7th place starting spot again. He raced up to 3rd and raced Jason Hughes for 2nd for 10 or more laps. He finally cleared him and Kelly Shryock was too far ahead to try to catch him. Al caught a caution with about 5 laps to go. On the restart, Todd Sharkey got into Shryock a little allowing Al to got by them both, but a spin in the backstretch brought the yellow out and they didn't complete the lap. That allowed Shryock to got his spot back. Al ended up 3rd.
With the new Harris in USMTS races, Al has 1 win, 2 top 5's and a 6th. Not a bad start as the team learns the new Harris Chassis!
